What is it about Levites and bishops? If you're a Levite, you don't need to be made a high priest in order to be a bishop?

Hasn't there also been DNA testing among the group of Jews who have a tradition of being descended from Levites? They commonly have the last name Kohn, Cohen, Coen, etc and are sometimes called a priestly class. There is a distinctive Y-chromosome marker among them. (The same marker is also found among a group of southern Africans who have always claimed to be Jews, oddly enough.)

So how about we just test Monson's Y-chromosome and see if he's got the Cohen marker? If he's got it, let's move on with the lamb slaughter!

Our caucus was crazy.

The line went around the gymnasium twice, out the door, down the hall, out the front door, down the steps, around the corner, along the block, and around the corner of the block.

My precinct captain said that it was five times the number of people who showed up in 2004.

I saw no Hillary stickers, posters, or shirts. Every second person had an Obama sticker on, however. I wish that were representative of the whole country, but it's just in my little corner of liberal Minneapolis, alas.

Thanks FLAKers. Now I know that God selects the new apostle from a database after a ride in the popemobile where they draw names from a hat. Oh. And, the perfect candidate needs mad skillz including: hacking, ninja, nunchuk, bow hunting, and tether ball.

New update.

I talked with the manager at Bahama Breeze, and they will only reserve a room on a Saturday night if the minimum tab is $2500. I don't think we're going to have quite THAT many people attending.

They do offer what they call a "call ahead" service, which is sort of like making a reservation. It doesn't involve a private room, and it very possibly involves a little bit of up-front waiting to be seated.

I'm looking at other possibilities for location.

One individual PM'd me about possibly doing it on the Friday night instead of Saturday. What do y'all think about that? Bodhi, could you come if it were on a Friday?

So far I have 8-10 people fairly firm on attending.

God, this takes me back to the pre-correlation days of the church when this type of stuff was very common in church discussions. I bet John McCain would love to ask Mitt Romney about this on coast to coast TV. The Levites had a bunch of "special" rules and requirements and were divided into four main classes. See:

I early-voted for Fred Thompson a few weeks ago. Oh well.

Silly is disenchanted with the Republican choices and has talked about going to vote for Obama, but we've had a rough day and I doubt she will go anywhere.
