One quick clarification, since that last post took me an hour to write and there has been speculation since I started it.

Unfriending people on Facebook was all my idea. Big Red didn't learn what I had done until 2 or 3 days later. My motives may have been stupid or misguided, and clearly the results were detrimental. But it was my mistake. Not hers.

Heck, I'll offer up an olive branch. Send me a friend request. I'll honor it.

Back to the porch now.

Folks, let me try to give you my thoughts on this again. I'm not sure I have anything eloquent to say, but I'll try to tell you what I'm feeling and maybe that will be enough.

As Big Red said above, she came on and was loud and pushy and said a few dumb things that got her in trouble. I can assure you that on about three occasions, I literally screamed at her to try to prevent a post. But as you all know by now, she is a woman who will speak her mind, whatever the consequences. So the fac ...

Question: Why is it that Big Red and kerfuckles always go hand in hand?

Do you guys all remember back in February when I left and you all asked why? Do you remember that I said that it was because you were all virtual friends and you didn't mean that much to me? And do you remember now hurt you all were when I said that?

OK. Now I want to you imagine how I feel now that Froggie is insulting Big Red after we have shared meals, and stayed in each other's homes, and traveled together. Yo ...

Here is my Cinco de Mayo gift to all you FLAKers. It's a few days early, but if you want to start mixing Margaritas now, I think that will be ok.

(btw, if anyone asks, you didn't see me here.)

That's interesting fact, thanks NOM (and you know I miss having you around). I'm afraid I need to point out a flaw in your report; where the hell is the chart with the excommunicated/resigned/less active members?

OK, since you asked so nicely, I'll show you how to compute the number of resignations for this year.

So, there are 13.5 million this year, which is 389,095 more than last year.
There were 265,593 converts, and we can assume that every single child of record born in 2000 was b ...

Double X, the source of the numbers is the report given at every April conference.

ETA: Wait, isn't the little uptick in the "children" of record number ~2003 when they started to count all kids and not just baptized children?

I don't think 2003 is the year that they changed it. According to what I can see, it was in 1973. (But my recollection was that it was in the 80s, so I may have to go do some research.)

Anyway, someone on NOM pointed out that I didn't have a graph fo ...

I was tuned in at the same time, but was updating spreadsheets and charts, so I don't know which of these two was speaking but I heard a real money quote. Whomever was speaking was talking about how the gospel doesn't change, even though technology does, and said "You can't Google a testimony.". I'm glad I wasn't drinking at that moment, or I'd be cleaning a keyboard now.

Since Colluvium doesn't do these any more, I guess it falls to me to update and post them. Enjoy, and don't say I never gave you anything.

So if he doesn't post anymore, I can only conclude that YOU are the one who has "run him off." If he doesn't post here anymore, I can only conclude that it's because YOU don't want him to or because you will make his life hell if he tries. I think that's sad, personally.

A completely reasonable alternate explanation is that he was offended on his wife's behalf, not that she's insisting (actively or passively) that he not be part of FLAK anymore.

Oh, that's true. I guess Big Re ...

Dude, KF, I know we aren't just a giant mass of anger. However, anger is a big part of what FLAK is at times and knocking people down because they're angry is not a good MO here.

I have to say, if BR wasn't Nom's wife, would she be treated this kindly for going off the way she has a couple of times over now?

Here's a good place for me to jump in.

Firstly, lets remember that way back, 5 pages ago, we were flaming the church for putting windows in classroom doors. BR said that was a d ...

While I don't think the bishops should be asking those kind of questions to minors, I can see where some bishops wouldn't want the parents in there during the interview in an attempt to keep the kid honest. The kid probably wouldn't want to admit jerking off in front of his mom and therefore might just say no.

I think you should read your comments again.

I think you need to decide first whether the bishop should be able to ask the question of your kids in ANY fashion. Everything after ...

I read the whole damn thing. Reminds me of the kinds of jokes my uncle likes to tell. Ever heard the one that ends with "Look at that S Car go!"?

Big Red's father loved that story.

How about the one that ends "Pardon me Roy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes?"

Goodness, it looks like I might have to re-tell the story about the church's attitude to child protection in the UK again...

I guess the Bishop can't come round and assault me this time

Well, he could, but he would have to drive further than before.

I'd happily drive 50 miles to slap you, though.

ETA: I have nothing of substance to add to this discussion.

This, my friends, is what is called "intellectual masturbation." There is no insight here, and I suspect that many of his facts are not generally accepted by experts.

The ancients tracked the paths of seven heavenly "wanderers" who made their way around our sky-the sun, the moon, and the five visible planets (for which our days of the week are named).
Yeah. Remind me which planet each of the days of the week were named after? OK, I get Monday and Sunday. Tell me what p ...

Hey, I forgot to ask yesterday.

What is the term of the sponsored links? Is there a time limit on them, or until they get pushed off the right side of the screen, or what?

Also, may we use our own logo or do you want to stick with generic mormon icons? Oh. And any restrictions on where we can link?
