Time Thursday, October 7 · 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Location Meet at City Creek Park
State St and North Temple

At General Conference this past Sunday, Elder Boyd K Packer - the President of the Quorumn of 12 Apostles, sent a clear and loud message to all LGBT teens living in the church. The message that you need to change your sexual orientation in order to not be a 2nd class citizen is disgusting and pathetic.

This kind disgusting hate speech is responsible for more teen suicides every year then we even know. Kids kill themselves, or are thrown from their homes because they are taught by men like this that God doesn't love them.

SO LET'S PROTEST!! We're going to be a bit creative about this though. Please wear a black shirt, and be prepared to lie on the ground. We'll be meeting at the City Creek Park before walking over to the Church Office Building on Temple Square

So far, the Facebook group says 910 will be attending.

I would love to attend; however I don't wanna get arrested. My kids will end up with the state and that could go in my record (remember I am years to citizenship yet). Is there any other way to support? Like wearing black and holding a candle without entering church property?

I suppose you could dress in black, hold a candle, take a picture of you doing that and post on FB?

I didn't see you there, but I did see your pics on FB. Glad you made it, Mafalda!

Has anyone got a link to reports of the protest/pictures from FB or other sources, please? I hope it went well :)

This Salon article gives a shout out to Packer.

Quote:
When the dust settles and Romney’s final electoral fate is decided, we may look back at the Mormon Moment as a time when progressive Mormons truly found their voice and their place within the Church. Historians may determine that it was not actually Romney who pulled Mormonism into the mainstream — but rather the very people Boyd Packer once viewed as their greatest threat – those troublesome intellectuals, feminists and gays.

The prophets of social change.

Romney boosts liberal Mormons
