I'm sure you can express derision for his viewpoint without resorting to what skirts very close to disrespect for his person. I'd like to see us avoid shit like "poor girly-man who cries"-style insults.

In a conversation about sports? Really? Come on...

Whatever... You have proven yourselves incapable of anything but arrogance. You call me whiny, fine, you are arrogant. There is no such thing as a level playing field in FBS football, but by all means feel free to continue ignoring that reality, it serves you well and continues to consolidate the money, since that is that matters any longer, competition be damned.

I could almost write your arrogant retorts for you, I can't wait.

Yeah, cause in a conversation about sports its totally ok to act like a dick...

Generally, yes. It almost always is. Jesus, you live under a rock?

Bread and circus and penis-waving.

Merc, I shouldn't have to explain the sexist connotations of CV Rick's post that you quoted. If you manly men have to chest-thump about sports, you can do it without using negative feminine stereotypes as an insult.

Bullshit!

That's not fair at all . . . there was nothing in my post that negatively compared the sexes or even brought up sexism in any connotation whatsoever. People (men or women) who cry need tissues.

Fuck you for accusing me of sexism.

You think so? What class of people typically gets shut down in a conversation when the opposition accuses them of being emotional? Go to any blog that touches on women's issues and count the number of comments before a male comes along and accuses the author of being too sensitive. There are very uncomfortable connotations associated with attacks from the LOLEMOTIONSBAD portfolio of insults, both because they're used so often to silence women's viewpoints, and because they touch on the false binary of "men are logic and brains and strong, women are emotions and feelings and weak" that reinforces everything shitty about sexism in society. It touched a nerve with me, and I'd appreciate it if you'd try to examine why instead of just telling me to fuck off.

You read something in that insult that did not exist. That's your problem. The fact that it was a personal insult is true, and I apologized for that, but it was straightforward and simple. I will not take responsibility for your wild assumption and misdirected sensibility. That's on you.

Whoops, silly me. There I go, forgetting that I don't get a say in what can or cannot have sexist connotations. Musta let my sensibilities get away from me again. ...

No, CV Rick. Like I suggested, try and examine why I might have pointed out a number of uncomfortable connotations in what seems like an innocuous statement before telling me that I'm out of line.

I didn't find anything sexist in it at all. I think you are reading way more into it than needs to be. However, I see that it is alright for you to be sexist.

That's cool. Whatever. However, CV said it right. Wild assumption and misdirected sensibility. For sure.

Don't you patronize me. This is a major accusation and I am offended by it. I might be a lot of things, but I'm not sexist and I'm not racist.

Everyone is sexist and racist and nationalistic and speciesist and classist sometimes, even when they try their damnedest not to be. The answer, if you really are striving not to be, when someone accuses you of one of those, is not a heated denial but an actual examination. If, after that, you think they're still full of shit, fine. But I don't think you've read a thing I've said.

See, Merc, I'm perfectly willing to admit that I made a sexist remark. I was trying to use it illustratively, but it was still wrong of me. However, I take solace in the reality that most men will never hear somebody tell them, "You think there aren't enough men in mathematics because of centuries of oppression? Why don't you go home and chest thump about it?"

Hell, we just had a 4-page thread devoted to otherwise decent people trying to rationalize why their ableism is okay and the offended are just too sensitive. They are wrong.

Just because you want so badly to believe something doesn't dream it into reality.

It's great when you get to accuse someone of sexism and then you get to back it up with nothing except your internal feelings. No evidence, no intent, just how you happen to feel that day. That is not only way out of line, but then you try and back it up with your position as moderator. That's where you stepped over the line and are still there.

Now you need to back the fuck off, reexamine your assertions, and apologize.

What the fuck? Are you stoned? Really? "I did it on purpose to prove a point"? Come on, get real. You said it yourself. Everyone is sexist and racist. Really?

You don't have a clue. Hey, if you're racist, that's cool. Whatever gets you off. Really. But let me tell you. You have no clue who you are talking to. Yeah, I was a real racist piece of shit in the past. I've never admitted to not being so. But after many years I've really gone 180 on it. You don't even know racist. Tell me, how many white power organizations have you gave money to? None? Try 3. Yep. That's right. I used to be a real sympathizer. But don't dare try to tell me what I am or am not. You have no clue what it is like to be in the reddest county in the reddest state in the nation and try to have a civil conversation regarding race while trying to explain what is wrong with racism.

Sexist? Oh fuck yes. Mormonism will do that too you along with general upbringing, especially one like I had. But sexist connotation in this last exchange? Not even. The only sexist thing thrown out there was by YOU.

So what? Now Godforfuckingbid that it should come out in a conversation? Wait, wait, wait. That's right. CVRick gets his pee-pee slapped over something that wasn't there. Jesus, np. I'm sorry, but that was a real leap on your part. A jumping of the shark type leap. Coupled with the weak "I did it to prove a point" bit is really lame. Like, lame.
