Well I had my kidney stone dealt with . The dang thing was 12 MM in size and they did a litho..something. Right up the urinary tract. They knocked me out, did their thing, andd left a stint to allow any gravel they missed to exit..so I need to go back in 3 weeks for another operation to remove the stint.

Right now my abdomen feels like I've been punched repeatedly, I'm pissing blood, and the oxy is not helping as much as I like. For some dang reason my neck and shoulders are stiff and I'm dehydrated beyond belief.

The only good news is that the next operation will not be as long or stressful on my body. I just wish I was not pissing my life giving blood away...feels dang wierd.

Wow. My kidney stone wasn't that large, but it still hurt like a mother fucker.

Hope you start feeling better soon.

well 24 hours later and I feel a lot better..not good, but better. Still red, but the sore abdomen and neck/shoulder are much less. Only took one pain pill today and can say I feel a bit relaxed. Over the pain hump I guess. I did warn you about TMI. jbsaxman. How big was your stone? I've been suffering mine for about a year but health reasons (fat lard ass) made it hard to operate.

Lithotripsy! Killing kidney stones with sound waves. Sorry you are hurting, but it just sounds (hehe) so cool.

I'll see myself out.

I didn't measure it, so I really don't know. No where near 12MM, that's for sure. That's freaking huge. It was probably ... I dunno ... 2-2.5 mm, I'd guess.

All I know is it hurt like hell.

I'm in touch online with a swedish exchange student from my high school days. She suffered a bad kidney stone attack and said it was worse then any of her three kids being delivered. Mine was a 3-6 on the 10 pain scale most of the time. The last three weeks before the surgery was really bad. I go back in three weeks to have a stint removed. Then it should all be over....

Yeah, that was tongue in cheek SR. I have scratched my corneas and that is by far more painful than having a baby too, so I figured anything the size of your stone (or even having to remove it) would be excruciatingly painful. (((SR)))

Sorry to hear all of that. I feel your pain, I only have one kidney, so when I have kidney stones they freak out. The last one I had was too large to pass as well, it was 8.5mm. Because I only have one kidney, they couldn't do the Lithotripsy. They ended up putting me to sleep and going in with a basket and taking it out. I woke up with a stint, they didn't warn me about before the surgery. They then told me to remove it myself after a week. I'll NEVER do that again!@!

It gets better, just make sure you drink plenty of liquids and stay hydrated. Also when the stint comes out, you will start to feel better also, those things are not fun. Good Luck!

On lovely oxy. back home and stint free. Recovery room was horrible(needed dilaudin AND oxy to get pain under control), but the end is worth it.
