Further Light and Knowledge

I'm new to it. I joined my BIL's league on a whim and have no idea what to do, in regards to trading and dropping people, once the season starts. My knowledge base of pro-players is limited, the only thing I do know at this point is that I should hold on to Adrian Peterson and never let him go (I got lucky and pulled first pick yesterday).

So what I need is a basic strategy: When do I hold 'em? When do I let 'em go? My team, Shaolin Rabbits (I was going for "the name most likely to invoke terror") is slightly above mediocre, with my worst pick being Shiancoe (based on last years performance only, but I'm hoping Mcnabb will need to rely on the short inside passes which was why I picked him).
