I'm not okay with it.

That said, it's not part of FLAK rules that you have to do things that I am okay with. Nor do I have any input on something like this. But I think it was a bit of an overreaction, and I hate thread-locking or closing of any kind, ever.

Just wanted to say. Made me damn cranky it did.

I think it was an attempt to teach manners. I've noticed the board degenerating and it us nigh unto death. Board bullies like CV kill the thing that made this a great place to visit. This was once a vibrant community that I couldn't stay away from, now it a place I visit on accident when I hit the wrong favorites tab on my browser. There are many others like me who migrated away from here for these reasons. Adult internet bullies like CV are pathetic. Adieu

I would be agnostic, but I have a commitment problem.

As someone who hasn't exactly been a model flak citizen, I still have to agree with this. I don't visit here all that often anymore. Flak is angrier and too many people take themselves too seriously.

I came here because it's where the cool kids hung out. I don't know if they graduated or the douches drove them off. But there are few thinkers left.

For the record, this is the first time I have ever locked a thread. I usually like to let things blow themselves over, but Reuben and Bonified are correct. The animosity over politics here is as big of a detriment to FLAK as OSWIT was and I intend to correct that.

I will re-open that thread later today after I address a few things.

This whole situation is perplexing to me. I don't get why adults cannot get along with each other, esp. in an online forum. I would think if someone ruffled your feathers so much you could just ignore one another.

In school, there were bullies, crybabies, jocks, nerds, dweebs, trailer trash, D&D kids, the PDA couple, the class know it all, emo's, the pregnant girl, freaks, special needs kids, metal heads, the hall monitor, stoners, cutters, the kid that shat himself/herself that one time, bikers, goat ropers, the jesus t-shirt wearing born agains, wickens, the in your face atheists, the apathetic atheists, shit kickers, cheerleaders, that one kid who was brave enough to come out of the closet, ROTC kids, the kid that is the 4th cousin of ______________ (insert famous name), outcasts, that kid that constantly scribbles poetry in a worn spiral notebook using words like "chasm" and "dreariness", the foreign exchange kid from eastern Europe, the foreign exchange kid from western Europe, the class clown, the kid that has a new annoying cause every month, bookworms, the teacher's pet, the tech savy kids, the popular kids, team jacob, preps, red necks, gamblers, the smokers, the kid that is always offended, the scene kids, the debate kids, the druggies, trekies, trekers, hippies, 911 truthers, tom boys, boys named "tom", the trendy kids, team edward, band kids, hip-hop kids, the kid that lives in his car behind the 7-11, skaters, tattle tails, eating disorder kids, artists, goths, pranksters, motorheads, student council kids, the thespians, gangsta kids, ESL kids, snow boarders, the kid that should have graduated 2 years ago, punks, that kid that will do anything for attention, math enthusiasts, the runaway kid, the reggae kids, choir kids, the kid with the camera always taking pictures for the yearbook/school paper, gamers, hackers, starwars nerds, the kid that has been to juvenile hall....

....and poser versions of everything above.

Not much has changed now that we are all growed up. Drop the "kid" off those labels and you will see that most of them fit perfectly in online message boards not unlike this one.

FWIW I also liked how you handled the thread thing. Occasionally a timeout is a good thing. My hot button isn't thread locking it's when threads disappear.
