I've written up The History Of The Two Foyers on the ZCL wiki. (I hope the ZCL wiki is an appropriate place for such a history.) Hopefully that will clear up any confusion that any newcomers may have.

Please let me know (or just edit the page) if I missed any major points or got parts of the story wrong. Obviously I couldn't fit everything into such a summary, but I feel like I did a decent job at recapping the most important events.

ETA: The story has been moved to the Kolob Cafe wiki, and the above link changed:

Perfect, Sol.

And now we just need a good ending to this chapter of Lords of the DAMU: The Two Foyers.

I don't know why, but this comment made me laugh out loud. I just had this flash of Arch plotting in his tower and Solistics running through the forest with a band of followers...

Well done, Sols. I hope we'll keep writing good "new" history to gradually replace the temporary bad blood.

Oh dear, I hope we don't have to run too fast - I'm asthmatic.

Ehhh, I don't know if we should do this. Historians tend to idealize the truth, and some things which are true aren't very useful. Isn't it more edifying if we tell only a faithful history of the Foyer? Rather than allowing any discussion of schisms to be told, we must blame everything on the rabid anti-Foyerites, who were inspired by the devil to tear down the kingdom.

I only just got around to reading the history of the Two Foyers. I was actually out of the country when all this happened, so I completely missed it and was quite shocked when DH told me about it after he got online.

I'd like to see the entry updated to include how this board got its new name. Who thought of it? When did it become official?

Basically I think it was because we tried to be all democratic and everybody had to stick in their oar and we ended up debating it for, what, three or four weeks? Then I think we finally all got sick of it and decided that FLAK was the least offensive... or something...

Maybe we voted...

lol. My, how quickly we forget. My original plan was for two weeks, but everyone was tired of the kerfuffle and ended up demanding a namechange within the weekend. I've updated the wiki to include the new information. Read it here and tell me if I missed anything!

Edited to add: I also located the originator of the name, and added it to the wiki.

You're the man, Solistics.

Now which one of you looks like Legolas?

Haha! I guess it just FELT like 3 or 4 weeks. It was an interminable round in my memory. :whip: (I don't know why I used the whip-it avatar. I just felt like it hasn't been used enough around here.)

You're bummed that the flagellation tools are used more around here, huh? I know what it is, you've got this pimped out FU stick and you don't quite feel justify using it as much as you'd like because others aren't whipping and beating others. It's a well known phenomenon, this resistance you feel, and I would just like to encourage you to disregard the slackers and wield the stick with pride. Repeat after me,

whip it
beat it
whip it
beat it
whip it
beat it

I'm going for board dom so expect my signal to noise ratio to be high

Well, actually, I'm a bit of a purist that way and am always concerned about using these things embedded in the correct context (ie I AM PISSED or YOU NEED A GOOD THRASHING AND I'M HERE TO GIVE IT TO YOU). Otherwise, people become desensitized.

So I feel a bit dirty about having used it in that gratuitous way.

But since it's you... :whip: :poke: :hit: :hammer: :samurai: :sword:

I believe Gracy has shut down the old foyer for good.

I remember stumbling onto the old foyer in my NOM days. I introduced my husband to it and he has stayed active. I got busy with my school work, but have started to come back and lurk a little. I always wondered what happened with the old foyer. This thread has brought me up to speed.
