"Per my previous posts, I'm pretty much sick of this place. I've invested a lot of time and energy into it, and it's become a place that doesn't give anything back, at least for me.

So you all can do whatever the fuck you want. Go hang out on Cherry with the other Hate Bush groupies, or wimp away on the NOM board, or whatever.

The Foyer goes offline in 24 hours. That should give everyone plenty of time to copy shit off of here if they would like.

No matter who you are, don't e-mail me, don't PM me, don't post any messages regarding this. I'm done."

Find your peace, man. Find your peace.

I'm hoping he doesn't change his mind. This setup looks like it will be better in the long run, and we don't need traffic split between two places.

Far from this being a sad day for the DAMU, we had just enough trauma today to motivate the switch to something better. I't's cool that thefoyer.org will be the URL and it is great to not be at Aimoo's mercy, though I guess we are now at Solistics's mercy .

Here's the question: What will this watershed moment be known as? (I understand that The Great Clusterfuck is already taken.)

But wait, Hank, we have to commemorate the entire meltdown!

"Thread closed, in part due to high political content. But mostly because Al Gore is a megalomaniac and a pathological liar. Not to mention a bad loser.

What the fuck are you people thinking anyway? It would cost the US billions to implement the strictures of the Kyoto Treaty, for at best minimal possible gains on this global warming thing. The Kyoto Treaty is nothing more than an international wealth redistribution scheme. You'd be better off investing your time and money figuring out how to put scrubbers on the active volcanoes on the planet.

Now knock off the political crap."

"Me, owe you an apology?? Whoever brought up the idea of Al Gore being a True Prophet owes ME an apology. What a bunch of bullshit. I suppose some of the (respectful, useful and productive?!?) contributors to that thread would only be happy if the US gave all its wealth to the Third World and adopted the failed socialistic policies that have kept other nations (yea, I'm talking about Europe and Canada) in the backwaters.

No, I don't owe anybody a fucking apology for stating my own fucking opinions on this board."

"Right. So people can bring their bullshit liberal politics here, despite a long-standing board rule against it, and I'm not allowed to say a word. Nice.

I'm sick of this fucking place and the bitchers and whiners that inhabit it.

Have a nice day."

I'm hoping to plan this so that you won't be at my mercy either (except maybe for the URL, since there's no way more than one person can own a URL). I'm planning to give full access to the board database to at least one other person so that if something should happen to me (like I decide to be a retard and shut things down), somebody else can still carry on.

This is a totally capricorn thing to say, but we probably still need board rules and ettiquette and such to keep things on topic and civil.

*ducks*

I agree, actually. Hopefully we'll have lots of people and will need that.

I would also like to vote for a "Not Safe for Work" forum for everyone to put their porn and stuff. I mean, if we want to go that route. :-)

I second the vote for some regulations and a NSFW page!

Also, it's my fault it's still orange, what does everyone say if we leave it like this for a month to let stragglers come in and feel at home? On the ugly orange couch of the foyer? It goes against my artsy-fartsy nature, but it's trying enough what with figuring out how to post avatars and stuff.

What say you all?

I think that's a good idea, so people who arrive will know that they are at THE foyer.

Thanks Sol for leading us to the promised land...

I would envision perhaps a designated area (similar to the proposed porn pit ;-] where we could have decent political banter...

There is a fine line (not so fine line) between politics and spirituality... and I've always found the Foyer as a place to irreverently explore spirituality - and learn and share in others journeys.

The understanding would be - that this is where we take these discussions. If it gets anyones blood boiling to the point of hemorrage - then they should stay away...

thoughts?

Thanks again!!!

I never understood the rationale for out-and-out banning of political stuff (er...political stuff that the board owner didn't like). It would seem that the onus ought to be on those who don't like it to stay away. I am always suspicious of prior restraint.

Why not just have a "politics" section (like Grab-Ass but for politics). Then, if a thread in Milieu gets too political, the mod could, oh, I don't know, MOVE the fucking thread to the politics section rather than, oh, I don't know, SHUTTING down the whole board.
