Hello FLAKers. astroNOM here, expanding my presence on the DAMU scene.

I'm married to the lovely and talented Mrs. astroNOM, a semi-TBM from a liberal, but TBM family. I have two boys, one is 3 and the other'n is 10 months old.

After much difficulty, I've decided to allow my children to be raised in the church. My thinking is that they must know the church before they can truly reject it.

I realize that this means a constant battle againt brainwashing, but a strong focus on critical thinking, skepticism, and good old scientific inquiry will hopefully make a powerful innoculum. In the end, they must choose their own paths.

I very much appreciate advice from other parents on this issue. I know I have a lot to learn.

I'm not much of a lurker. I see a good conversation and I want to jump right in.

Thanks,
astro

Pull up a bag, make yourself at home!

But seriously . . . as far as kids go, I think that what works for you is what is best for you. Keeping peace at home is what matters. I was divorced and had full custody, so I didn't have to answer to anyone about my choice to quit attending. My boys had an easy time with that decision, but my daughter had some issues that I didn't find out about until about a year ago (12 years after the fact). She's glad now, but it was a shock to her 7-year-old mind.

Sois le bienvenu, AstroNOM!

Good to see you here. I don't post here terribly often, but every once in a while, when the mood strikes. ;)

Let's have it, Astronom.

The convo, not the enema. ;)

Big green hugs,

Froggie
