After reading this article (did someone post this article earlier?) I called them to see if they still have any t-shirts available and they said that no they couldn't sell them because the church asked them not to.

http://www.abc4.com/news/local/story.as ... 35f2f6d360

BUT. They have designed a replacement t-shirt. I haven't seen it but he described it over the phone. He said that it still has the hand coming out of the sky and the coffee being poured, but in place of Moroni they have added the words "what the lord giveth the church taketh away".

Has anyone seen either the original or the new version of the t-shirt?

Hi WC,

I am a big fan of these things, I never saw it much of a virtue to abstain from all things erect.

I've been in Adam Ondi Ahman for the most part! (well, a really remote area south of St. Louis) It's truly beautiful out there although I am back here in Utah for this week and it is gorgeous here with the panoramic mountains and tree blossoms. Here's a pic from my front yard about five minutes ago - the whole area is bedeckled with pink and white and new green: (Ignore the lawn, Mr. Frog fertilized it just two nights ago so it will be green in a week)

What were you doing in St Louis? Sounds fun... Looks like your house is near my old house (I was in Alpine). It is a pretty area, tho WAY too full of TBMs for me...

I'm just south of the AF canyon entrance in Cedar Hills. When were you last here? You'd freak at the growth. Alpine is bursting at the seams, they've got houses all the way next to the AF canyon entrance now (bah humbug to them) and the homes are creeping up over the mountain from Draper, it's gotten really bad since they put the road over the top. Do you see them, these are the NE mountains of Alpine. Here's a pic:

Off with their bloomin heads. I liked this place better when there were fewer people. And they are all mormon. My ward is 95% activity rate.

I'm starting a new business near St. Louis. I have my hands full. I will be solely ecommerce when all is said and done, but the research/dev is requiring physical presence at this juncture. I will ultimately end up in permanent residence there. I'm looking at a 3-5 year timeline for moving. That is when my youngest will be graduating high school.

Big green hugs,

Froggie

I removed it. To protect the pure and innocents on this board.

:flying:

Big green hugs,

Seriously. I can't STAND the way they do(n't do) zoning/planning in Utah. That whole area is a complete travesty. That's the reason we sold our house there when we moved, instead of holding on to it. We were in a lovely little canyon, in which a huge development was being planned at the top of the canyon - making a very small road with no traffic essentially a throughway to a major new tract of HUGE houses. I wasn't okay with that, for a variety of reasons. Ugh.

Good luck in St Louie! Sounds like a great adventure - and a move out of Utah to boot!

Yes, they've done the best they can to take beautiful natural treasures and junk them up with cheaply constructed split-level houses, steel mills, and cement factories. Ugh. Don't get me started.

Wry and I have talked about this before, but Alpine especially has lost all it's charm. My grandparents built there in the '30s when it was a bedroom community for farmers working in what is now Highland.
Alpine had GREAT zoning for many years. They wouldn't allow ANY commercial development in town, so there was a bunch of little shops just outside the city limits. But then they allowed unlimitted residential building, of apparently unlimited size, and now the place is filled with 10,000 foot mansions, going all the way up the canyon. (DWs cousin owns an 11,000 ft. home on the creek with a little 5000 ft. mother-in-law cabin  )

Hey, but at least they won't ever spoil the rural beauty of Herriman, right?

Not a chance!

Seriously, since I moved to Herriman only a few years ago, the place has exploded. I will say this, so far the developing does seem to have some thought put into it. But I know people up in the canyons are alarmed at the new high-end housing developments creeping up the hillsides. It's all about the view. Most of the homes are no bigger or better than elsewhere in Herriman but they cost at least $50K more.

What really bothers me is the pretensiousness that is developing in our area. We're on the "west bench" don't you know? I swear, if I start having to dwell amongst a bunch of snooty social climbers that think they're hot stuff because they paid too much for a house they could have gotten for much less in Riverton, I'm not going to like it.

On the other hand, I could make a killing on my house right now!!

EDITED TO ADD . . . To the point of the post . . . a new coffee shop is going to be opening in Herriman soon . . . our first!
