whoa, you're me if I could be me.

byu, had kids, studied computers, someone hired me to stay and code, but alas I am still here and you're not.

It was when you posted the objective C in the CCH, I'm thinking, yeah! I'm not alone in the universe!

Cheers,

right, it was the stack overflow error of '92 that launched Bono's solo career.

All I know is we ObjC types need to stick together.

In Utah, I worked both at Novell and Iomega for a time. Where you at either place?

I loved your analogy about the planets and the sun. It makes so much sense after you put things were they belong (and I am not talking about planets here, I am talking about church's facts). Very well put.

Welcome

fortunately??? no. I started with a small development firm out of silicon valley which relocated to Utah around 1996. The company grew and is now a global entity for which I am so very glad. Have seen the world and these travels have been instrumental in my seeing that life outside of mormonism could be happy.

I enjoyed Iomega. I'm glad you've found a company that works for you, both professionally and personally.

So I have to ask: If you've figured out that the Church isn't true, then why continue to attend? Is it because your spouse is still a TBM? Just curious...

My atheist brother is still attending church (even has a calling!) because his wife has threatened him with divorce if any of the kids leave the Church because of him. So he pretends to still believe, and still attends each Sunday, but doesn't believe the Church is true anymore than he believes the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus hang out together on the weekends.

Makes more grateful than ever that my hubby left with me.

It's a fair question, with several answers.

One, we have a teenage son who likes to attend. Mostly for friends, I think, but I'm not going to force him to leave.

Two, we only go for Sacrament meeting.

Three, my spouse is still more NOM-ish than FLAK-ish, but that is changing.

Four, I'm the ward chorister. Mostly, I like the job. I know, it doesn't seem to make sense, but there you have it.

Five, I don't know if I'm really ready to quit yet. I've been at this for a long time. Prop 8 was a wake-up for my wife, but not so much for me. Like I said elsewhere, when I allowed myself to believe that the church wasn't true, things go a lot easier, mentally, emotionally, stress-wise, etc. Church seems worse on my spouse, now, than on me, which is 180 degrees from where it was just a year ago. I'm just not in a hurry.

Six, I have a extended family that are members. Heck, I'm descended from what might have been the last handcart pioneer to die ("might" is the important word). It's a tradition that goes way back. This relates to my last point; I've grown up this way; I'm not in a hurry to change, especially now that I'm feeling better on Sundays.

Wow! I've never made a list before. Thanks.

Does this answer your question?

Oh yeah. Men are punished for their own sins and all that.

What is amazing to me now is HOW Goldarn could continue to go to church all this time. It obviously wasn't easy on him, I don't think I could go as long as he has with the cog dis. Boy do I understand now why he'd be upset on Sunday's. My day was ruined yesterday after enduring a F&T. He is definitely the more patient half of this marriage. I react very quickly to things. Right now I keep hoping that church will get better.

OK everyone quit laughing! It could happen.... couldn't it??? :?

Good news, everyone! My great uncle Monet Baggs died, and left me a million dollars! The check just came in the mail.

Clearly tithing works, so we're going back to church. See ya!
