Hi all,

We're down to four mods now, which is typically more than enough for FLAK's purposes, but occasionally things get busy and there's too much going on for a moderator to step in in every occasion, so I'm looking for people who are interested in being a moderator.

I'm particularly interested in people who are (a) relatively new to the board to bring some fresh blood into the moderator group, (b) while at the same time fitting in with the overall board tone, and (c) peacemaker types who can take this section of the rules to heart:
Quote:
Be polite and respectful of others' opinions. Consider alternate views as valid, valued and recognized. Disagree, don't attack. Engage the ideas, not the person. Personal insults will not be tolerated. In stating a differing opinion, use phrases such as "In my opinion...;" "To me, things appear this way...;" or "In my experience..."

Someone who can see both sides of an issue and work with both parties to diffuse a situation where people are not considering others' views as "valid, valued, and recognized" well before it gets to personal insults. A moderator who can speak softly, in other words--not necessarily one who carries a big stick.

If you know anyone who sounds like they fit this description, please PM me and I can contact them directly.

p.s. although this may seem directly related to recent issues, this is something I've been discussing for some time. Recent happenings have only been a slightly extra push, not the main reason behind my desire to have a new influx of moderatorish types.

I'd be willing to make an exception for you, belaja. ;)

That's very sweet, actually. Can I use my stick as a mod?

I'm envisioning "good cop/bad cop" scenarios.

Yep, with Bel in a sexy cop outfit and a whip to go with her stick.

:-D

This seems like the appropriate thread in which to declare board dom, by the way.

If we add Bel as mod, then we have to add the Law and Order noise too, to go with the good cop/bad cop scenarios.

I couldn't use my stick as a mod anyhow, because it is the Fuck You Stick and that is not allowed. I would not be able to be a good example.

OMG. We're supposed to nominate people who we think could be a good example? WTF? Nothing like making the requirements so stringent that only sticks-in-the-mud need apply.

My patriarchal blessing claims I'm a peacemaker, but I'm not new blood and I've been known to enjoy the occasional sock puppet. I nominate notpotable.

I second that. Excellent choice.
