Gracie Said: My outlook has not changed. It's the type of poster that has changed. The past year or so has attracted a different kind of attention from people we didn't have before. I'm trying to get it back to (the old) normal.

This doesn't mean we can't rant and rage and say naughty words. But it does call for adult, thoughtful writing.

It's when we're most angry, most hurt, that we need the support.

I'm not talking about being NOM-like. Just mature and helpful.

So guys, if you joined the old board in the lasy year or so, like me, you're not welcome. We cannot join what is so obviously a clique and it seems we're not deserving of the clique's help.

What a crock of shit. I may be newish but does anyone here know my story? Am I less qualified to post because I discovered the fraud of mormonism more recently than some? Am I unable to write in an adult manner? I don't think so.

I've been to two meetings both long distances, to meet people who have helped me and vice versa. I flew to Germany to meet with some cool folks but I guess I'm still not worthy to post on the old board. Does that not count as giving support?

Perhaps If I pray really hard, I'll understand how my attitude is wrong

Scottishboy (and other so-called newbies):

I really wouldn't take anything too personally over there right now. We are no longer in the Morg and no longer require leader approval for every action. We are all mature, intelligent and articulate folk who flock to other likeminded folk.

I think the best thing we can all do individually and collectively is to simply decide where we feel most comfortable and start making that community really feel like home.

I think people have made their feelings known so that there should be no surprises on either board.

I moved this here because I'd like to keep the Milieu section free from any of these intra- or inter-board discussions.

I don't think that's what she meant.

I think we should lay-off on her and the old board, for those who have moved on let's just be content in our new home. Arch is still posting and stirring up shit (saying the Foyer was his intellectual property, he doesn't own my thoughts or posts) and it's getting to be a clusterfuck.

I got nothin to say about noobs and TVFTF...but I did just notice that NOM doesn't link here anymore. It doesn't link to VFTF either. Just nothing. Sigh.

I think Tolworthy/Faraday's sad thoughts about our "schism" are getting to me today. :(

The revisioninsm is hysterical. TVFTF was started because Arch got the boot from NOM for being too caustic about Mo'ism. The early days of TVFTF were full of cussing and sex threads, in addition to plenty of ranting and raving about Mormonism. Now it's the thinking man's DAMU board or whatever. Also, several of the earliest Foyer posters left during the Great Clusterfuck and landed on Cherry or NOM, so there really is no stereotypical old foyerite or whatever. But who cares? There are enough choices in the DAMU that anybody who wants an unFaith home can find one.

I'm hoping that the non-linking at NOM is temporary, pending resolution of any issues between the new and old board. I'll not go into any details of the reasons for temporarily taking the link out, but I hope that all issues can be resolved soon.

Thanks for the (sort of) explanation, GDTeacher. Just makes me sad that it's come down to this.

Wow, what a mess. Finally caught up over there.

I see someone had to come over and pout about others playing with his toys. (Im having flashbacks of my children being grounded, but having fits that the other children went outside to play!)

I have great respect for Gracie, but I dont understand the longing for the "old" tone. I have participated on VFTF for over a year now.
I consider myself "recovered",but that does not mean I am "done" disscussing with others about their angst.

Moronism has many, many layers and the process of peeling them is an individual process. Compassion includes letting people heal on their own schedule. As long as someone IS moving forward in a healthy way-why compare them to predessors who handled their transition differently?

Dunno, I might be totally reading something else into it. I dont have all the answers. :)

I think boards DO need guidelines and I dont think mods are evil. A society without boundaries is chaos.

I think we need to keep in mind HERE that boards are living entities that ebb and flow. They are organisms that grow and change over time.
I expect that here. People will come in and out.

Some participants needs will NOT be met here. No board can be all things to all people. Hopefully, there are enough people here who feel a diffrent kind of "calling" (forgive me for the lack of a better term) to serve others and help THEM develop their own plan of examining how they feel about Mormonism in their lives.

We were pushed out and we clung together in support. I greatly admire what was done here!

I'm not sure what you meant by this, but the lack of a link on NOM really should be temporary as the mods figure out what to do. I wouldn't read too much into the lack of a link on NOM right now - it's not meant as a slight on anyone. The original link was to the old Foyer, and when this group came along, the desire was to provide access to the sister group ASAP. But then the old Foyer came back online, what do you do? Put in both links? The mods have great respect for the people on both boards (and a lot of the people are the same in any case) and don't really want to show preference or slight to anyone. So basically we need to wait for things to sort out and see where the bulk of the group ends up, what's going to happen long term. It may be there's enough traffic to support both boards.

Personally, I think the old one should be shut down. We have the archives. Gracie brought it back up which is appreciated, we were able to get the archives and have some resolution, but now it's not needed.

Some people have talked about the difference between the two, a different tone. I don't see it at all, it's the same people posting here that posted there about the same subject matter. In fact I find this board already to have a much friendlier tone.
