reprimand a poster with a personal expletive ( quote "Fuck off") and when is it not okay? I thought that the Terms of Service had a guideline against that, but maybe not?

Do we consider on a case by case basis, or.......how is it decided? Do we play it by ear, kind of ?

First, I think the full quote you're actually looking for is "you might want to fuck off." Meaning maybe one DOES want to fuck off and maybe one does NOT. It's more of a choice really. And you left out entirely the part where I accused the FLAKer of practicing blatant misogynist douchecraft and THEN invited him to consider fucking off as one amongst several (implicit) options available. Them's fighting words for sure. Don't be quoting me out of context and correlating it with the so-called Terms of Service. Actually, I don't think they're called Terms of Service, are they? Do we have such a thing here?

As anyone can read for themselves, the "Rules" are as follows:

FLAK Purpose, Rules and Etiquette wrote:
Be polite and respectful of others' opinions. Consider alternate views as valid, valued and recognized. Disagree, don't attack. Engage the ideas, not the person. Personal insults will not be tolerated. In stating a differing opinion, use phrases such as "In my opinion...;" "To me, things appear this way...;" or "In my experience..."

...

Strong language and profanity is considered acceptable and sometimes even encouraged. Some people choose to put warnings in the subject line of their post when particularly harsh language is used, but this is not required.

I think those are the relevant paragraphs.

The rule you're looking for is more of a guideline really, and it's of course unwritten, and goes a bit like this: If someone cool says it, then it's okay. If some dorky asshole says it, then they are reprimanded and chased off. Right? Isn't that what you think is going on here? A big FLAK Popularity Conspiracy supported by a secret cabal of Moderators/Fascists Who Play Favorites. And fueled by oldtimers with social juice who Get Away With virtual Murder. Or at least saying things that are Not Nice.

The corrollary to that rule is, anyone with jillions of posts can say what they want, while those with smaller post counts must keep their virtual pie-holes shut until they have kissed sufficient longtimer ass to be graduated into "the club." Yes?

Am I leaving out any of your biases? Should I bring up cherry yet?

LOL, Seems like we've developed a bit of a tolerance.

By way of example- Subject: "Fuck off if you don't care for harsh language"

Clearly the above referenced so-called rules are FLAK folk-doctrine that may have once been pronounced by assuming and misguided, albeit well-meaning, moderators.

We heed latter-day moderation-- for our current times. Much like the current lds prophets and apostles, however, we haven't really heard shit from our moderators lately.
