Since we're having fun here, and silliness is one of my favorite things, I don't want to bring the level of fun down too much. Some practical advice for preserving my sanity is needed. This week, at the age of 58, for 3 days a week, I've started baby sitting my 6 week old grand son. Jesus, Joseph, and Mary, I'd forgotten how all consuming it was!! Shit, I had the little critter watching Dr. Phil with me at the end of yesterday!! His mother had me at a cut off point at how much I could feed him, and he wasn't happy. WE figured out, not the doctor, bless his heart, that the kid is lactose intolerant, and since fixing that problem, the baby is happier than ever, and sleeping decently, and even pooping more than once a week. My problem is how do I sort out my time so I have energy at the end of the day, and still fulfill his needs? My son is a wonderful parent, but he's in school full time, and works full time, so he's not much of a resource, and the mother is coming out of a horrid case of post partum blues. Any tips? Other than a slug of whiskey?
Is he on a decent schedule? In my experience that is pretty key. Kids do better when they eat, sleep, play and do all their usuals at the same time every day. It will make it so much easier on you both. Also, why cut off his food??? At 6 weeks he should be able to eat until he is satiated.
