... this stuff is great. What a series.

I just completed watching the first three seasons.

Watching it makes me so happy to be out of the cult and to now be a freethinker going on 7 years.

Today I watched the episode with the temple ceremony and court of love. My only thought was "how bizarre!" Perhaps a sign that I'm cured.

But I do hear the bits of mormon hymns and primary music they liberally sprinkle throughout the show and I feel some pangs of nostalgia.

To sum up, I hope the vile institution that is the Mormon Church collapses and goes away. It causes more harm than good.

So I binged on "Big Love" and now the marathon is over.

I tried to search the FLAK archives for previous discussions but it comes back that "big" and "love" cannot be searched because they are words to frequently used. Ideas?

Whoever wrote this story did an unbelievable job. I enjoyed how they matched up narratives of what was occurring in the fringe groups to the same narratives occurring in the more mainstream LDS church. Hypocrisy much?

The series also paints a believable picture of how, if polygamy became legal, it would not necessarily be women dressed as pioneers moving about cloistered compounds.

I felt the most well done bit of the series was Barbara's constant sacrifice to Bill's Priesthood Power and that every time she went for a little power for herself in the relationship, Bill told her she was being selfish.

That about sums Mormonism up. It is patriarchy disguised as a religion.

I've only ever seen the first season, so I don't have much to say about it. I also tried several ways to search it, but couldn't get any results either. I know there are loads of threads on it, probably mostly in the CC Hall, maybe just page through there a bit?

I just started watching this - just the first episode. A friend bought it for me so she could watch me while I watched it. Sure enough I was shouting and pointing at stuff on the screen within the first 10 minutes. Infuriating.

That's awesome. And impressive. And I can see why you were great on Jeopardy!
