This is one ensign article that you might want your significant other to read, if they, like mine, want to divorce your ass for un-belief:

http://www.lds.org/ensign/2012/07/when-he-stopped-believing?lang=eng

In my mind, there are getting to be to many divorced women on the welfare rolls and the church is starting to see a cut in discretionary income... but hell maybe they are growing hearts.

The "love = pain = growth" total bull shit was something I'm so glad to be away from. It was a concept that I went along with, never understanding but reluctantly accepting simply because the concept was part of the package deal.

TBM's obviously cannot question organization-approved concepts. To do so would invite apostasy, opening the door to satan's evil deception - trading your birthright for a bowl of pottage, so to speak. No, TBM's are told, commanded to trust the Q15 because, as what is learned in primary, "follow the fifteen prophets, apostles, seers, and revelators" because god won't even allow them to be capable of leading astray.

Why didn't the article address WHY the husband quit believing? Is the organization afraid of the truth? Of course they are - why else would they go to such incredible lengths to cover, dismiss and even lie over and over again about the thousands "little flicks of history?" It's still incredibly ironic to me how they preach "do not be deceived" yet they are clearly the ones deceiving - and they know damn well they're not prophets, apostles, seers, or revelators, and they know damn well this organization is not a "church restored by god."

So organization, you want control over my mind? Your organization founded by a thirty something year old man who was commanded by god to marry a fourteen year old, two sixteen year old's and women who were already married? The same guy who translated gold plates by looking at a rock while burying his face in a hat? The same organization that is always the same - which apparently means they're always changing? And all I have to do is quit using my rational capabilities, do everything these fifteen men tell me, give you thousands of dollars and hundreds hours of the best years of my life and in return I get what? Fuck that shit you lying bastards - fuck you with a morning star.

That article was certainly interesting.

The part they are leaving out here is the fact that the original author, too, left the church. And the original exit story that this article is based on was much longer.

I wish I could find the original story, but I dont have time ATM.

Even though the reason for the unbelief was not discussed, I think this article is a step in the right direction. I do know of several couples who divorced because one of them “left the church”. One couple in particular, the wife received council from the Bishop to leave her non-believing husband. This was really a sad deal. He was a good friend of mine. He was a good father, and loved his wife. She was mind f*#@%d by the church. Now, she is a single middle aged mother with three kids and no job skills. The Bishop was a real prick.

Without knowing the full story, it was interesting to read of a woman who decided to try to strengthen her marriage instead of her church membership, by resisting the temptation to divorce her husband, but instead to reassess their relationship.

Who was the original author - all I can see is 'name withheld'. That would be pretty interesting to hear that particular exit story!

I'm sure you've already seen this, but I did love this article
